Why must one take piano exams? Why must one take any exams at all? Aren't there already enough challenges in our lives?
Playing exam pieces and scales just stifle the creativity of musician wannabes, causing them to really lose interest in music. I would be a prime example. It would be less than 10hrs to my impending doom.
Why can't a person play the piano purely out of passion for music, and not because of some ulterior motive ( like the aim of getting a certificate).
Yeah, try telling that to my mom and all you can expect are cynical replies. But it is not the misanthropic answers which are disheartening. Rather, it is the perceptible materialism of human nature.
Seriously, the world don't revolve around grades and exams. They are not the measures of a man. However, society don't share the same sentiments and most unfortunately, neither do my mom.
